andshake is seeking biopharma PhDs to support AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. This is not a traditional full-time law firm, in-house counsel, or government role. You’ll use your real-world legal expertise and professional judgment to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand legal analysis, statutory interpretation, case law reasoning, drafting standards, and professional legal communication.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity that can be done alongside your primary employment.

This project involves leveraging your expertise as a Biopharmaceutical PhD to design scientifically rigorous, industry-relevant prompts and evaluate AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, sound scientific reasoning, clarity, and alignment with real-world biopharmaceutical research and development practices.
- Status: Independent contractor (not a full-time employee role)
- Location: Fully remote; work from anywhere with a reliable internet connection and access to a desktop or laptop computer
- Schedule: Flexible and asynchronous, with no minimum hour requirement. Many contributors work approximately 5–20 hours per week when assigned to an active project
- Duration: The Handshake AI program runs year-round, with projects opening periodically across different areas of expertise. Placement depends on current project needs, with opportunities to be considered for future projects as they become available
Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a PhD in Biopharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Chemical Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated doctoral-level expertise is required in one or more of the following areas:
- Genomics & Genetic Engineerin
- Protein & Antibody Engineering
- RNA Therapeutics & Expression Design
- Synthetic Biology & Whole-Cell / Systems Modeling
- Drug Discovery, ADMET, Toxicology & Chemistry-Driven Discovery
- Immunology & Vaccine Development
- Pharmaceutical / Big Pharma Industry Experience
- Candidates should demonstrate rigorous scientific training, deep domain expertise, and applied experience aligned with real-world biopharmaceutical research and development practices.
- No prior AI or technical experience is required.

If your school requires a CPT course, Handshake AI may not meet your school’s requirements. STEM OPT is not supported.
