Product & UX Design Expert

What you'll do

Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to advance frontier agent evaluations in product design. As a Product & UX Design Expert, you'll build long-horizon product design tasks that mirror the work you already do, each paired with a deterministic rubric that grades agent performance against verifiable ground truth. Tasks need to have checkable answers; "which layout looks nicer" doesn't qualify.

Expect to build scenarios across:

• Flow completeness: user flows covering required states including empty, loading, error, permissions, and success
• Design system fidelity: components and tokens reused from a defined system rather than one-off values
• Spec handoff: annotated specs with a required-field checklist, accessibility annotations, and measurable copy constraints

These scenarios will be challenging and take long sessions of focus.

Who we're looking for

• 3+ years as a product or UX designer at a SaaS or consumer product company
• Portfolio with shipped flows (not concept work)
• Expertise in one or more of the following: advanced Figma (auto-layout, variables, components), design-system development, WCAG and accessibility, prototyping, spec annotation and handoff
• Comfortable reading and producing product design artifacts: flows, mocks, specs, design system audits
• Clear written communication; can articulate reasoning step by step and encode it into deterministic rubrics
• Located in the United States or Canada

Compensation

$85–$115/hr depending on domain depth and prior experience. Strong contributors are promoted based on task quality and throughput.

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
